Mikemuka
Black & white Piezography PRO printing
Founded in 2016 by Jean-Jacques Micheli and Zahara Mukagikwiye, Mikemuka is a Fine Art printing studio specialising in black and white prints made with carbon inks. It also offers alternatives to conventional printing, such as dye sublimation on fabric.
Drawing on more than 40 years in professional photographic printing, Jean-Jacques Micheli founded the JJ Micheli laboratory in 1982 and has worked closely with many Belgian and international artists. His approach to making a print rests both on the quality of his work and on listening to the photographer or the artist, in order to reproduce the sensibility and the spirit of their work.
Zahara has worked in fine art photography for more than 20 years. Well known to gallery owners, she supports artists in putting their exhibitions together, offering advice and contacts, not least at private views.

Testimonials
Dear sir,
I want to thank you for your welcome and for the way you looked at my work. I studied the tests at length this afternoon. I am overjoyed, because I have finally found the printing technique that suits me. I am now weighing up the limits and the small compromises I will have to make.
Warmer still would suit me better. I have found the craftsman to help me accompany my work.
Jean-Marie Dautel I discovered the excellence of your work at my framer's; the print is superb… and I am delighted with it. I wanted to thank you for it.
Christian Laloux The photographs are simply superb! What magnificent work you have done!!! A thousand thanks :-)
Marie THE photograph is SUBLIME, I absolutely love it; I was taken straight back to the beautiful black and white of the analogue Sint-Lukas years of the 1990s… what a pleasure!
Mireille Roobaert, photographer I opened the photographs — they are stunning! A thousand thanks 🙂
Marie Haegelsteen, photographer The prints I collected yesterday are very beautiful: I am very glad to have met you.
Marc Ghuisoland Today I would like to tell you about MIKEMUKA, the studio that seeks harmony with the artist and their work.
At its origin is a figure well known to Belgian photographers, JJ Micheli, who together with his wife Zahara, well known to gallery owners, created MIKEMUKA: a Fine Art printing studio specialising in black and white prints made with carbon inks, the Piezography Pro process.
As you can imagine, I remain in admiration of JJ Micheli's experience, and little by little I am discovering Zahara's talent and openness of mind.
If you truly want art prints of a very, very high standard and black and white is your chosen field, there are few laboratories working in this area — but this one is, to my mind, among the best, if not THE best there is.
